The manufacturing of parts with continuous carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (C-CFRTP) by means of individual fiber bundle printing via 3D printing/additive manufacturing is a relatively new and developing field. In this presentation, we will not address the technical aspects of printing processes (the ``how to print''), but rather focus on ``what to print", particularly the layout of the fiber paths to be printed. In a recent publication, we introduced a novel approach that generates these paths patterns across multiple layers, where each layer may have its own distinct layout. This approach solves discrete optimization problems on a graph level, and the result is interpreted as fiber bundle paths following manufacturing constraints of parallel paths and maximal curvature. In this talk, we will briefly introduce the mentioned algorithm but will focus on the impact of different path layouts on the structural performance and stress conditions by means of high fidelity finite element analysis.
